Experts highlight upcoming UH-led pelvic floor symposium

Anna L. Myers, APRN-CNP, WHNP-BC, FNP-BC, IF, and Jean Marino, ARPN-CNP, NCMP, IF, preview an upcoming University Hospitals-led symposium titled, “What’s your pelvic floor plan? 2nd Annual Female Sexual Health Symposium.”

In this video, Anna L. Myers, APRN-CNP, WHNP-BC, FNP-BC, IF, and Jean Marino, ARPN-CNP, NCMP, IF, preview an upcoming University Hospitals-led symposium titled, “What’s your pelvic floor plan? 2nd Annual Female Sexual Health Symposium.” Myers is a women’s health certified urologic nurse practitioner at University Hospitals Urology Institute as well as a clinical assistant professor at Case Western Reserve University School of Medicine in Cleveland, Ohio. Marino is a Senior Women’s Health Nurse Practitioner at University Hospitals in Cleveland, Ohio.

The symposium will take place on Saturday, September 23, 2023, at the Samson Pavilion Health Education Campus of Case Western Reserve University and Cleveland Clinic in Cleveland, Ohio.

The symposium’s learning objectives are to:

  • Review the anatomy and physiology of the pelvic floor muscles
  • Describe the role of the pelvic floor in the etiology of endometriosis
  • Describe the role of the pelvic floor in the etiology of birth injuries
  • Describe the role of the pelvic floor in the etiology of pelvic organ prolapse
  • Describe the role of the pelvic floor in the etiology of urological conditions
  • Describe strategies to assess the pelvic floor including history
  • Describe management strategies for conditions related to the pelvic floor
  • Learn management strategies for tough cases with a multidisciplinary approach
  • Learn assessment tips and management tools for pelvic health including trigger point injections, dilators, pessaries and more
